AM - 15 miles. Ran 10 w/ Andrea. The forecast called for 100% chance of rain this morning, so we were lucky to make it through 7 miles before the heavens opened up on us. After Andrea headed indoors, I kept going and it was an absolute downpour for the last couple miles. A hot shower and breakfast felt really good afterwards.

PM - 8 miles. It continued to rain all day, but stopped before I went back out, and I had another very pleasant run.

Yesterday I read a good article written by Jennifer Pharr Davis. If you've never heard of her - she set the record for hiking the Appalachian Trail this summer. I liked this quote: “If you don’t fail at something at least once, then you haven’t set your goals high enough.” [Here is the article from Blue Ridge Outdoors]

I've heard her speak a couple of times and spoke with her for a while. Very impressive, what she did.

Wow, very impressive lady (I googled her). Great quote. I fail often, so I think I am good!

Glad you survived the downpour!

Great read, thanks Jake. Regarding our discussion on Japanese HS runners, my friend in Japan said that the collegiate scene is equally as popular -- here is a link:

Yeah, Jennifer Pharr Davis is pretty impressive. I know how I've felt after hiking a bunch of 20+ mile days consecutively... I can't imagine stringing 50 mile days along for 6 weeks. She is one tough chick - and also very humble, inspiring, and seems like a really great person.

Bonnie - jeez, that would be like if they added a RAGNAR relay to the olympics! That is the most competitive and fast relay... wow.

You guys got rain? I'm praying for any kind of precipitation down here in Utah County. The ski slopes are calling my name and there is NO SNOW!!!

We're in Tennessee... I'm SURE it didn't rain in Salt Lake! :-)

Yes some snow would be great... we'll have to hit the slopes together sometime when it finally starts coming down

Great read and nice mileage today. I could not have run in those conditions
