Well the new year sure got kicked off on a tough day. It was 17 degrees with windy gusting to 40 mph. I ran on the local HS XC course thinking that the trees would block some of the wind. It worked a little but we also had snow so the footing was not very good. This was one of those days that I am just glad to get the run in and head to the house. It does make me feel good to get out on days like this knowing that it would be easy just to stay in. So now some goals for the New Year. I want to continue to keep my mileage up consistently. If so, I think it will be possible to run 2400 miles this year. As far as races go I feel like I am in the best shape of my life so I would like to set PRs at pretty much at all distances. The two that I am most interested in are the 10k and the half marathon. I want to run sub 40 in the 10k and break 1:30 in the half. As far as the marathon goes I am planning to run a fall marathon. My first marathon didn't go very well and I wasn't really in very good shape. I feel that after about a 1 1/2 years of consistent running I should be ready to give it a go. I don't even want to write down a goal time right now. Once I get half way through the year and have a couple of half marathons under my belt I should be able to set a better goal time. So there you have it... 66:30 |
