It was cooler today (65) but very humid.  I was a little stiff and sluggish getting going this morning so I took it real easy at first.  After a few miles I started feeling better and got into a good pace.  Just an easy recovery run but good to get it in.  Some thunderstorms were moving in and I finished just as it started to rain.

I have been looking at scheduling some upcoming races.  I want to do a marathon this fall but haven't found one that fits into the schedule yet.  We are going to Disney late Oct and I am running a relay with some friends the first part of Oct so Sept would be the best time but there are not many races around this area that time of year.  I may have to go later and run later Nov or Dec.  I am looking for one with decent weather and a fast course to go after a PR.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

PM:  I want to get my mileage up some so I am going to try running doubles a couple of days a week and see how that goes.  It was warm (80) and humid this afternoon.  I just ran easy.  My legs felt pretty tired so don't want to try to do to much with the increase in volume.  I ran through Fox Cove and added on 3/4 of a mile around the subdivision to get up to 16 for the day.

How about the Indianapolis marathon on Oct. 17?

Great job on your run today! And thank you for the early b-day wish. I will also keep my eye out for a marathon race for you. Good luck...

I would like to run Indianapolis but I am running a 12 man 200 mile relay the weekend before. We are just running the relay for fun but I'm sure it will still take something out of me.

Sounds like fun (they are, I have done 2!) and they do take a lot out of you. Looking forward to meeting you in person back at the Indy marathon though (I registered today!).

Jim,

Philadephia has a fast marathon in late November. I'm also contemplating a late November marathon in Baltimore- North Central Trail Marathon- it's a softer surface, advertised as flat, going slighty up for the first half and slightly down for the second half. These are probably a little too east coast for you...I'm sure you're familiar with marathonguide.com. Lots of marathons advertised with detail and comments.

Good luck with the doubles. Take a little getting used to, but then aren't bad.

Dave, Philly might be a good option. The timing is good and I travel their quite a bit. I will check marathonguide out and see what other options are out their.

Jon, I felt the effects from the double yesterday. Hopefully it does get easier.

Jim,

Doubles do get easier. They killed me over the winter as I was first beginning to incorporate them. My feet seemed sore all the time. Now, they are much more tolerable. I cheat a little bit, using our TM in the basement. With 6 kids it's nearly impossible for me to get outside 2x in one day.

A couple of folks around here have run Philly and felt it was very fast.
