Philly:  I thought I would try to run on the foot again today and see how it went.  I started off easy and didn't have any pain.  I decided to run until I felt the first sign of pain and then stop.  I made it 2 miles and it started to bother me some so I shut it down then moved to the elliptical for another 25 minutes. It is frustrating but will have to work on other things to stay in shape until I can get this foot fixed.

Hi Jim. Checking in on you as I haven't blogged for a while. Can't do it from work anymore! Anyway, see that you've injured your foot. Sorry to hear that have you gotten an x-ray yet? Heal up soon.

Bob, Thanks for checking in. I have been slacking on the blogging as well. I believe I have some achilles tendonitis (?). It seems to get better then gets worse. I probably need to take some extended time off. I am trying cross training right now. Running some and cycling the other days. Hope you are doing well and that your running is going great!

Sorry to hear that Jim. As you know, I'm a Dr. Van Aaken fan. One thing he recommended to his athletes was taking frequent walking breaks if you are injured. For example, you would run easy for a Qtr mile and then walk 50-100 meters. You would start out this way and repeat it over and over. Whenever something is bothering me I do this and it worked for me. Another achilles help was doing a PT exercise called heel drops off a stair step and believe it or not slowly running barefoot a little more often. Just my 2 cents.

Bob, thanks for the feedback and the tips. I will definitely give them a try. I am pretty frustrated with this injury. It has been giving me problems since Nov so I am really ready to get back to normal training. I hope all is well with you. How do you like IL?

We like IL. It's not much different from IA! As you know, IL has its problems, but I think it gets a bad rap because they've unfortunately had so many bad political apples and it has been taken advantage of fiscally speaking.

Glad to hear that everything is going well for you.
