Personal:

My mother forced me to start running as a freshman in high school.. and as much as I hate to admit it, I actually ended up liking it. Graduated from Pine View High School in 2013 and, after a yearlong hiatus, I am now running again, this time for USU, where I'm working on a composite Elementary Ed/Deaf Ed major.

Am: I went to morning practice, but I ended up not running because my calf feels all cramped. I stayed and rolled it for a while.

Pm: I did a 2000 (a super crappy one) and a 1000 before I decided I just couldn't do it with my calf anymore. I stretched my calf and Michael showed me how to use the foam roller to help it, and I'll ice tonight, so hopefully it loosens up. It was so so so hot today. After the cool down, Aubrey,  Liz,  Mia,  Stoner, and I went and got snow cones and screamed primary songs the whole way, since the radio is off-limits during missionary week. I hate missionary week.

Am: three. My calf still hurts.. I rolled it some more.

Pm: 4x400 all out with full recovery. It was so so hot. The first two felt fine and I got 1:06 on both. The 3rd I still hit a 1:07, but as soon as I hit the 300 mark, something felt wrong. It felt like my legs wouldn't hold me up anymore. We finished that one and I had to go sit down- I was dizzy and my legs didn't want to work. Stoner was getting impatient though, and made us start the last one. It was the most terrible I have ever felt while running. Ever. It was absolutely awful.. I ended up with a 1:20. I went and sat down by the wall and covered my eyes.. everything looked way too bright and it was giving me a headache. Then we went on the cooldown and the headache wouldn't go away. But my calf felt fine until after the cooldown. Then it hurt again.

Am: woke up feeling sick.. possibly having to do with the weirdness from yesterdays workout.. possibly not. Whatever the reason, I skipped morning practice.

Pm: Kosmin. I honestly hate this test. It's not that it's way hard or anything, but I don't think it shows me anything. It did not predict correctly last time, and this time I ran it worse so.. whatever. It was fun to run with Roberts though. Oh, and the quote of the day goes to Megan: "it was fun.. but then I was sitting on my head."

Am: three. Leaving for BYU today.. excitement.

Pm: Steeplechase! Stoner and I were way nervous.. we practiced hurdles before the race and realized we both suck at them. We made a deal just to do this for fun, because we were so scared. It ended up not being a big deal at all though.. I fell into the water once, but jumped right back up and was fine. I ended up taking 7th.. but then one of the girls ahead of us was a 1A-2A girl so I still got a shirt. (: It was way fun. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But a little while after, I started to feel sick to my stomach. Little did I know, this would prove to be a recurring theme of the trip.

Later PM: I ran with the girls, despite feeling like puke. It was actually way fun.. we traced a hand and a house, snapchatted Frida, and got scared to death by a flying fern. We also did 3 striders.. okay, so our total mileage only added up to 1. Whatever.

Ran with the girls up through Provo. I was feeling so so sick, so I was kind of grumpy and I just wanted to go back to the tent so I could lay down. When our run finally ended, I laid down in the tent and slept while the girls went to get lunch. I couldn't even make myself eat until dinner. It was a very long day.

Went on about a mile warm up with the girls. I was still feeling sick all morning. I tried to think positively, but I was mentally just done before the gun even went off. Worst 800 ever. Now I really just need to focus toward region if I'm going to qualify for state.

Not so long after that (they got rid of the lunch break), I had the medley 8. Honeycutt and Kayla told me beforehand not to worry a ton about my split, because they knew we wanted to qualify the 4x4 today, which took a lot of pressure off. It was pretty slow, but I tried to surge a little at the end, and I ended up passing a girl.

Then the 4x4. Cierra and I were both pretty tired from the medley, and Cierra didn't even know she was running the 4x4 til right as we were checking in for it, but we were determined to qualify today, even without Janzen. Alyssa started us out strong with a low 1:02, and Cierra got us into a good position (either 3rd or 4th). Then I got the baton and before I even hit the 100, 4 girls passed me. I don't know where they even came from. Then I passed our tent and I heard Coach yelling something or other, and I knew I had to pass them all back. So around the 200 mark, I got around them all and was battling the Dixie girl for 2nd when I passed off to Katie. I then promptly proceeded to get run over by two girls on other teams, but I really didn't even care. I was just watching Katie and the clock. I knew it was going to be close. She came in at 4:11. We got it by 2 seconds! So happy. My split ended up being a 1:03.5, which is my fastest this season, so at least something good happened to me today.
