7am run thru neighborhood and oak lea 40:07/ 7:32 even pace. Great morning for a run, 70 deg and low humidity.

As part of my jump into marathon training I will be heading over to Decatur, Georgia on Aug. 2 with Eric to run in the Hot to Trot 8 Hour. It's a loop course of 1.12 miles. I will most likely not compete the entire 8 hours, but I still would like to get some good miles in. Eric has a very good shot at winning the whole thing. It promises to be hot and humid, but also a lot of fun.

Most of my miles range in pace from 7:20 to 7:50. Every now and then (ie once a week or so), I'll throw in a little fartlek, but nothing major. The only real speedwork I'm getting is from the races on the weekends. I do, however, think that running at roughly 4:30 every afternoon in the heat and humidity down here is toughening me up somewhat, so that when I run some of these races at 7:30 in the morning, it feels great.

How far are you looking to go at the Hot to Trot?

35-40 would be nice, but mainly i'll be there to help Eric during the latter part of the race. If he has a good day he'll do 50+
