In Wisconsin with the family visiting my Mom. Today is my birthday, which means I get to do whatever I want. Last night we went to see a band and celebrate New Years with my brother and two of my sisters while Mom watched the kids. I knew I was going to run long so I limited the beers and drank water also. Still trying to get in some mileage so I don't completly tank at my up coming marathon and ultra. My training has been very hit and miss the last few months so I can't really expect much. Anyway, I ran the Lake Michigan lake front for 11 miles north out of town. It was about 34 degrees, sunny and very little wind. My plan was to even split and at 11 I was at 1:30. Made it back to the house in 1:30 also, goal meet. Now that I live down South it was refreshing to get out and run in the snow and cold, great run!

Through neighborhood and Oak Lea. Negative run, Avg pace 7:04/ 7:32, 7:28, 7:15, 6:38, 6:26. Last two miles seemed effortless, confidence that I still have a litte speed left over from last year. Marathon next Sunday

On Wheeler Refuge north truck trail, out and back with Brother (our dog). 1:24:27--8:27 pace. Had to stop and walk several in last 4 miles to let Brother catch up. He is a great sprinter, but looses it after 5 miles. Overall my legs felt heavy and I wasn't motivated to do this run.

This is a small marathon in Mobile, AL still trying to get better organized, but still fun to run, and a great cause. I did not put the training in to run great, but was still happy with my result. My right shin just above my ankle got extreamly sore at 14 miles causing me to run/walk the last 12. Thankfully I saw my family two times during the last 12 and they motivated me to keep moving. They give a lot of awards out for this race. The 4 masters in front of me got overall awards, so I ended up being 1st in my age group.

I trianed for and ran this race in 2006 in 5:43. This year my training left a lot to be desired. I had some stomach troubles mid race and then just got really fatigued during the very technical 2nd half. It's a great race with excellent oranization. My goal some year soon is to break 5 hrs in this race.

Right shin pain and swelling again. Plans to run the Black Warrior 50K in Feb have been scraped. Complete rest for at least the next 2-3 weeks.
