Sub 2:19:00 marathon Personal: I used to run competitively, and maybe I will do so again someday. Right now I am primarily running to try and get in better shape, and to maintain both physical and emotional health, but also for the simple joy that comes when I run.
I am also the proud daddy of five little ones. I love the opportunity that I have to be a daddy, and my challenge is to balance my family responsibilities with work and running. |

I ran easy this morning, running 8 miles out and back on the Pittman Wash, and throwing in 4 miles barefoot on the grass at the baseball fields after the first mile. Total time was 1:28:22 for 12 miles.

| I ran too and from school today. I kept the pace easy in both directions. I ran about 1:03 on the way too school, and 1:06 on the way home in the evening. |

| I ran on the Pittman wash today instead of running to school, as I am driving out to Utah in the evening. I ran 10 miles in 1:10:48. I ran a mile fast on the way home in 5:04 (2:40,2:24) followed by a half mile in 2:23 a little over a mile later. |

| I ran with Sasha this morning before heading off to USU to present my poster. We ran a three mile tempo during the run, hitting mile splits of 5:20, 5:22, 5:31. Sasha started to struggle during the second half so we slowed down a bit, but it wasn't a big deal to me as I was not planning on running anything fast today, and I had only gotten 4.5 hours of sleep due to the travel. Total time of 1:11 for 10 miles. |

| I ran with Sasha again. We ran a fast 400 with Benjamin in 70 seconds, and later ran a mile in 5:32. Otherwise we kept things slow. Total time was about 1:40. |

| I ran a 10 mile tempo with Sasha this morning out on the Provo River Trail 5 mile out and back course. We hit splits of 5:48, 5:43, 5:43, 5:43, 5:59 for the first 5 miles. Other than during the second and fifth miles, pace was erratic as I kept wanting to speed up, and Sasha would ask me to slow down. The fifth mile was slow because Sasha needed a break. During the second half I ran mile splits of 5:42, 5:40, 5:30, 5:09, 5:02. I was with Sasha until 7.5 miles, at which point I took off after the turn-around and ran the last 2.5 miles in 12:48 with quarter splits of 79, 78, 78, 78, 77, 76, 77, 76, 75, 74. Total time for 10 miles was 55:59. Sasha finished almost 2 minutes after me in 57:57. I was happy with the effort and result of the tempo. The majority was much easier than I am accustomed to, but the last 2.5 miles made up for it, and I finished stronger than I remember finishing when I used to live here. After running back to Sasha's house we ran with his kids, and finished up 20.5 miles in 2:23 |
