18.10

18.10 in 2:16:35 (7:33).  Up and down Provo Canyon beginning by the movie theaters in the Riverwoods.  First 7 or so were with Mark.  Hit the turnaround point right around 1:13:00 and then just tried to keep things moving along well.  Overall a good run.  Probably will do nothing longer between now and DesNews.

Do you have a time goal for Des News?

Realistically it's probably right around the 3 hour mark. Unrealistically it's 2:57-2:59. Foothill Blvd has gotten the best of me every time I run this race.

You still planning on running it? If so, what kind of time you looking at?

From Rob on Mon, Jul 09, 2012 at 09:02:38 from 206.71.84.68

Well, I need a 2:55 so I can register for Boston on Day 1. I know it's kind of a weird reason. If I don't think I can run a 2:55 I wont run it. At this point I don't think there is a chance at all but I'm going to give it another week to see if I can feel better.

I don't blame you one bit for not running it if you don't think you can get that time. Especially where you have already run this course in the low 2:50s and the fact that you are constantly battling injuries. I'll take any suggestions on what you think the best way to run this course is. I hate Foothill.

It seems like the worst mistake you can make on that course is running the first 5 miles way too fast. The steep downhill, followed by little mountain really takes a lot out of the legs for later on. Nothing I can say about hating Foothill, it's hot and I hate courses where there are cars driving next to you(TOU). The thing that really helped me is Sasha came and paced me the last 6 miles and really took my mind off of the other distractions. Maybe just turn your iPod up really loud.
