Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible earache!

We got up early to see the sunrise then went up to Diamond Head Crater for the hike to the top.  Fun time on a beautiful day.  Hit Leonard's on the way home for a Pao Doce Wrap.  3 miles. (Boost)

Lazy day at the pool and beach today.  Ear was still hurting and I was antsy so I took a run to the pharmacy to fill an anitbiotic prescription we had and for a run along the Ali Wai canal.  5 miles. (Boost)

Justin and I got up early and ran to the bandshell at the Kapiolani Park to register for the Honolulu Marathon Clinic Prediction Run 10 mile Turkey Trot.  It is a training run for the marathon.  $6 for a supported run..not bad.  Got our tongue depressors and put down 1:10 as we were planning on running together plus dealing with the heat and windy conditions.  Met a few nice folks waiting for the run to start.  No watches or GPS...idea is to gauge your pace and try to come in as close to your prediction as possible.  From what we heard, you need to be within 10 seconds to have a chance of winning.

We went out in the front group and did the loop around the park before heading up the crater road.  Still near the middle of the front pack but Justin's stomach was causing him to drop back from me.  As I was running up the hill I would look back to check on him and see if he was staying close.  After getting up on over the crater and starting our way up the back side we took off down towards the neighborhood on the back side towards Kahala.  I stopped and waited for Justin at the turn off from the crater road and ran with him for the next couple of miles trying to motivate him to dig deep.  His stomach was hurting so he said go.

I picked it up a bit at the halfway point (or where I thought it was).  I started to pick off the runners ahead as we made our way back to Kahala and up the crater.  It was getting warmer through here as the sun was coming out and shining brightly.  On the way back down towards Kapiolani Park I was really cruising and passing runners.  Along Kalakaua I kicked in and passed a few more to catch all the runners except for about 5 of them.  Ended up at 1:07:57 so a bit under the prediction.  I ran back to bring Justin in at 1:13.  He said he threw up a couple of times but still had a kick at the end. Proud of him and his effort.

We ran back to the hotel and rested before the Thanksgiving buffet and pool time.  Justin did not feel good all day.

Took Kami to see the sunrise at Kahala Park instead of running and spent time with the family and getting packed up before heading home on our last day in Hawaii.

Got back to IF after a long night of traveling and fitful sleep on the plane.  Cold and very windy.  Too tired and windy for a run.
