Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Russian champion tries Crocs, commits to racing a marathon in them

Nikolay Chavkin in the video below did 3x1000, first two in Adidas carbon-fiber models, the last one in Crocs. Surprised by the result (2:52, 2:52, 2:50) with the fastest interval done in Crocs, he committed to racing a marathon in Crocs if the video gets 42K likes and 195 comments (for 42 km 195 m, the marathon distance). Nikolay's current marathon PR is 2:14:00. The video was created by a Russian sporting goods store chain. Their moto is "more sports - brighter life", which we think is wonderful, and also deserves a Like. If you want to see a fast marathon in Crocs, go to the video and click the Like button. And make sure to share it with your friends.

4.3 miles at 6:40 pace at 4:15 in the afternoon after a good day with the family at the museum.  Man, I love running at sea level.  Maybe I have to come back here in the spring for my next marathon!!!

5 miles easy before heading out with the whole family for Legoland.  My left hammy and glute were really tight today.

7 hours walking around Legoland and the car ride caused my lower back to lock up a bit.

9 miles in 1:02:28 on a glorious morning outside.  3 miles at good MP (5:30 - 6:15 pace during this stretch).  Run felt great, lots of other runners and bikers out...didn't really want to stop but came back to spend time with family.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

No run this morning as my glute/piriformis was pretty sore and we have a long day of traveling so I didn't want to make the trip more sore for my body.  It was a fun trip but it will be good to get home...even if it is in the tundra and way too cold (good buy sunshine and 65 degrees!!).  But, at least I don't have to deal with traffic and millions of people!

It was 12 degrees with a 6 degree windchill when we were going to head out this morning so the group convinced me to hit the gym for a TM workout...first one in about a year!  10 miles in 1:01:40 for a 6:10 average pace.  2 miles easy warmup then the next 8 miles a mixture of mid to fast MP with 4 miles at sub 5:40 pace.  Felt really good to run fast and in the warmth to help the transition back to Idaho weather.

Now for a day of getting settled again around home and start to get the Christmas decor up...mostly the tree today.
