Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Quick report...2nd overall in 2:47:28 behind Ryan Jones (recent BYU grad and XC/track runner - 3:51 in the 1500m in May!).  Running together with Ryan thru 16 miles at about a 6:15ish pace, then 2 pitstops due to GI issues caused me to fall back and never catch up, behind Ryan by about 3 minutes.  Overall happy with the time on a hard course and was on track for a 2:44ish finish before the GI issues.  I used 3 PowerBar Gels during the race for fueling, nice to promote and use their products! A nice day for a run!  I wore the Adiddas Boost...not sure these are my marathon shoes as I developed a hot spot around mile 8 that lasted to the end of the race.  (Boost)

Splits: 5:55, 6:05, 6:03, 6:12, 5:58, 6:08, 6:09, 6:04, 6:13, 6:14, 6:18, 6:12, 6:10, 6:17, 6:21, 7:06, 6:18, 6:23, 6:47, 7:04, 6:59, 6:43, 6:47, 6:40, 6:14, 1:27.

Well done Jeff. Sorry to hear about the stomach issues--that can ruin a race pretty quickly. Recover well and good luck with the next one!

Great time on a tough course Jeff. Sorry bout the GI issues cropping up again. I suggest you try out PREV ( http://www.preventprevail.com/ ) on some long runs and see if it works for you. Helped me the couple of times I tried it.

Nice race Jeff. I looked up the course profile - that's a MONSTER hill in the last 1/3rd of the course.

Way to represent at good ol Teton. I'll always remember that one. Sucks about the the potty stops. Seems like everyone has been getting hit with that lately. Must be something in the bacon.

From Jason D on Mon, Jun 10, 2013 at 15:01:24 from 24.1.80.94

A minute or so faster than last race on what sounds like a tougher course. That hill does look very strategically placed. Well done!
