Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

I woke up to 2 inches of snow outside and 25 degrees...gym time.  1 mile easy warmup, 9 miles at MP or better for a total time of 1:02:50 for 10 miles.  Felt really good overall and the pace was very comfortable.  It is now a beautiful day outside and I will try to get a good run in at lunch.  (TSD5)

6.7 miles on a beautiful day at lunch in 49:10.  Cool (33 degrees) but bright sunshine and a light breeze made it great to run in shorts, long sleeves, PowerBar vest and light gloves.  Nice to have the Vitamin-D and sun on my face!  (Tangent 1)

Jeff,

wow 16 miles you are a machine!! YOu are looking good, nice run on the TM. What is your goal for this upcoming Marathon?

From jtshad on Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 15:39:32 from 204.134.132.225

Thanks, I am getting tired!

The MAD Marathon on May 14 is just a training run to hit Utah Valley hard on June 11. At UVM, I hope to be somewhere around 2:35-2:37 and not lag too far behind the rest of my team (Paul Petersen, Dave Holt and Clyde Behunin)! Backup goal would be to lower my Master's course record there (2:41).

Wow - snow, I can't imagine. :-)

Great running and awesome goals. What paces are you going to shoot for at MAD?

From jtshad on Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 15:47:27 from 204.134.132.225

I am going to go out slow for the first half then use the second half and an endurance training to try to get close to goal MP.

So, I am thinking something like 1:25ish first half, 1:17ish second half on the mostly flat/rollers course. Of course, the weather may play a big role in how the race goes as well...hopefully no snow and above freezing for the 5am start!

Sounds like you were lucky to catch that weather. I on the other hand waited and am now headed to the treadmill.... Sounds like your sitting well for the upcoming races.

The only vitamin d that we have been getting for a while is from our foods or a multi vitamin! Hopefully I will be getting back into it just about the time the weather breaks. Great run Jeff!
