Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

I was tired this morning and my stomach was still not 100%, so getting up was tough. It was still cold, windy and very icy on the roads this morning, so I went to the TM at the gym.  Started off really easy and only really got going at about the 3M mark.  I threw in 1.5M MP at mile 6.5, then eased back off for an overall average pace of 6:35.  My wife is feeling sick (still, started feeing bad yesterday, I wonder if it is the Mexican food we had Saturday night?) and I am just a little better.  Hope it goes away soon.  (Stratos 3)

5.5M run at lunch on the greenbelt at and easy pace (7:15). Cooler, slight wind and sunshine but the path was a mess. I ran on everything...snow, ice, slush, puddles and dry path! As I was hitting the 5M, I hit a patch of ice and went down for the first time this winter...at the end of March! No injuries (tuck and roll manuever) luckily. (T2)

Great job squeeezing in running no matter what is going on in your life. Try skipping a meal or two to fix the intestinal woes. That seems to work for me.

I have hurt my back before (many years ago) trying to catch my balance on ice. It seems almost better if you just go for the fall like you did Jeff, hope you're feeling OK and won't have to add soreness now to you upset tummy! I think you put your swingset up too early, perhaps if you take it back down the sunshine will come back out to play...

Glad you didn't get hurt. Are you still coming to Striders this weekend?

Ouch! Nice technique to protect yourself. Where do you go out in Driggs for vacation?

Jon, I am 50/50 right now. I would like to have a good last hard run before Boston and Strider's is a good approximation of the first half, but I am on travel all next week and I could just go hard here on some hills. Plus, not sure about the weather, although it is looking better for Saturday now. Thoughts?

Thanks eveyone, I must have been a sight for the people driving by with my acrobatics on the trail!

We'd love to see you. Weather looks sketchy, from what I can see. Not sure what I would do- good race, but it's a long drive and weather may stink.
