Well, after a long hiatus from blogging and a crazy six months or so, I registered for Boston yesterday and decided it was time to rejoin the ranks. I feel awful for everyone who tried to register yesterday but got shut out, either by technical problems (I ended up finding a link on Facebook via Twitter that got me in after the registration page failed) or due to the incredible speed with which the race filled up. I'm sure there were plenty out there who saw qualifying as a once-in-a-lifetime achievement and found themselves among the dismayed throng who missed out. That has to be a tough pill to swallow. As for me, I decided to make use of a large grass field across from a client's office where I spend about half of my time. I hadn't pulled out the VFFs for months (I had fun running in them for a while but found my feet feeling bruised after pounding around on the streets of SLC in them for a while) but figured the grass would be a good way to strengthen some stabilizing muscles without causing damage. It was a short run but was highly enjoyable. Gorgeous weather that won't last much longer. I stretched longer than usual in an effort to minimize the inevitable soreness that attends minimalist running for me.
