"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

13 miles. Slow-n-easy. Drove to the LPT and ran there.Mostly sunny, 21 degrees. Wind in my face no matter which direction I was running.

Something was whacked with my blood sugar maybe. I had zero energy, and started feeling light headed/dizzy in the last few miles. It was very frustrating because I've been running great lately, then,on the day I want to run long, this happens. My legs/body felt great, but when I tried  to pick the pace up I would  feel it for a few seconds and then everything just sort of fell apart. Hard to explain. After struggling to finish the run, I felt great, like I hadn't run at all. It's got to be something in my diet.   ?

I guess no run for me today.

PM edit: I guessed wrong.

6 miles / 50:42 / 8:27 avg.

After running like a chicken with its head cut off all day at work, I came home and ran like a hamster on a wheel. After 2.75 mile warm up I did 6 x .25 mi. w/.25 recovery, then .5 mile cool down. The quarters were run at progressively faster paces with the recovery at just under 9 mpm. Interval splits:8:00, 7:30, 7:14, 7:04, 6:54, 6:40. I wasn't looking for a workout, just a way to get through a treadmill run without becoming comatose.

It's because of the hard core example that many of my fellow bloggers set that I opted not to wimp out on doing a run today. Though I did settle for the treadmill instead of outdoors.

I took last Tuesday off and this turns out to be a really good day not to run, so be it.

When I was younger I loved Winter. I loved driving in Winter conditions. It suited my sense of adventure. Not any more! I'd rather find adventure curled up on a couch with a good book and coffee and classical music, while watching the cold snow fall outside...

6 miles / 8:57 avg. Lunch run, from home. Sun! 19F. Roads weren't too bad. It's too cold for slush so that's nice.

PM: 4 easy on the treadmill after work. 8:45 avg.
