"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka
"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Finally got out of the house around 2:00. Overcast, gray skies, 36F. Unmotivated today and never really felt un-funky during the run. Not that I felt funky, you know, 'cause that could be construed as a positive feeling, "I felt so funky on that run, man." But I started the run in a cloud of funk, and the funk stayed with me throughout the run. So in a sense it was a funky run, but the run certainly was not - funky.

TM this afternoon. 2 mile warmup then 3rd mile at 7:40 (this is fast for me), 4th mile easy. Then 4 x 2 minutes (2 @ 7:20 + 2 @ 7:50) with 2 minutes easy in between. Short cooldown.
Remember: The treadmill can be a fun and safe way to spend quality time with your own sweat!

Run during lunch. Beautiful weather! Sunny, 44 degrees, windless.
Jensen park/West Layton, out & back.
Two "tiny dog" encounters today. The first one was a gentleman walking his dog who had one of those retractable leashes. Just a tiny white mutt but when he came running after me, the guy didn't push the little brake thingy, so the leash got longer, the dog got closer. I ended up having to jump over the dog. Good thing he was small. I only cursed alittle, under my breath. The second encounter was a tiny black mutt running across his front yard as I passed, I thought I had him beat but then could hear his little pawsteps coming up behind me, I turned and made threatening sounds and gestures and he turned tail and headed back home. Again, good thing it was a small dog, I could have step on him if neccessary. :-)
