"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

The cold I've been in denial about for the last three days is asserting itself pretty blatantly today. No run and hope to feel better tomorrow.

All within the Sun - Sat blog week format:

17 weeks I ran less than 50 miles

21 wks between 50-60 miles

10 wks between 60 - 70 miles

4 wks between 70 - 70.4 miles

I ran one marathon (TOU PR of 15+ mins.)

Not bad for my first real year of consistent running. I'm grateful, and frankly kind of amazed that my old body held up to this new regimen.

This cold (the virus kind, not the temperature) is still hanging on. I was able to run in spite of it this week but it has been chipping away at my energy level. Going for complete rest this New Years day. Ironically, after two weeks or so of sub freezing temps, today is upper 30's and I'm not running.

Happy 2010!

10 miles / 1:31:40 / 9:10 avg.  Mostly sunny, 35 degrees, breeze out of NW. Cattle road.

Easy pace today because:

A: The cattle rd was packed snow/slush/ice.

B: Still battling this cold, (low energy, stuffy head, cough), and

C: I'm slow.
