"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

It was remarkably easy to come to the decision to NOT run today.

What? Why not? Are you feeling all of the micro tears in your thighs today? I sure am!

From Ashbaker on Mon, Sep 21, 2009 at 16:13:49 from 98.98.27.230

I have been there and back several times already. My compulsive side will probably win today however.. I

No big deal if you don't make it out. You could take a week off and not lose much if you wanted to.

Good decision. I read somewhere recently, I think it was in "Advanced Marathoning" that you should not run for a minimum of two days after a marathon.

I like your laundry entry. I couldn't even do that after my first 1/2 (the washer and dryer is downstairs...ewwww)

So what is next?

No running? What does one do without running? My coach says 1 week after the marathon - no running.

From JD on Tue, Sep 22, 2009 at 11:59:18 from 64.65.159.206

Bec - the micro tears are sending micro signals to my brain and they're saying "don't run yet!".

Ashbaker - Yeah, compulsiveness does have it's advantages. Looks like you got out for an easy 4 today.

Carolyn - It's good to hear that. I'm about to go see what I can do today (Tuesday) after two days off.

April - My house is one level, very small, I'm able to load my washer from my bedside! Lol! Just kidding. I'm looking forward to running some shorter races this Fall/Winter and try to get faster. Another marathon in the Spring (Ogden?).

Auntieem - it's great to take a break, although the first day was mostly sleep, nap, eat, hobble around the house, nap, eat, then sleep. Very productive day.
