"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Way to be hardcore!

Did you wear shorts????

From Carolyn in Colorado on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 19:32:21 from 24.8.167.243

Yeah for sun!

From JD on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 21:11:00 from 166.216.128.76

Lysa - thanks, but hardcore would be more like getting the run in at 5:00 AM when it's dark and colder.

Kelli - heavens no!!

Carolyn - I agree. Such a nice sunset tonight. So much better than overcast and snow.

While I was shoveling my walk in shorts, I wishing I could be running instead---it was so darn warm!

From april27 on Fri, Dec 11, 2009 at 11:17:28 from 99.188.251.180

OOH la la 19 degrees!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Dec 11, 2009 at 12:20:33 from 24.8.167.243

But when it's that cold, doesn't the slush turn into ice? Or are you at the pre-slush stage?

From JD on Fri, Dec 11, 2009 at 12:50:08 from 70.96.78.157

Carolyn - we're still pre-slush. Nothing's had a chance to melt yet.

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 11, 2009 at 13:51:48 from 71.219.71.229

You must have different weather! We were all about the slush yesterday (until it refroze when the sun went down!)

From JD on Fri, Dec 11, 2009 at 14:17:48 from 70.96.78.157

Our weather experiences are always different. I guess 40 miles makes a difference. Plus, we get a lot of "lake effect" snow while out South you might get a mere dusting of snow. Our temps are similar though, we didn't get above 19F yesterday, the only melting going on was snow off the roofs of the heated houses.

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 11, 2009 at 18:53:13 from 71.219.95.151

Almost all of the snow on the streets melted away yesterday, it was pure slush by 10:30 in the morning. We get lake effect snow on the west side of the valley, BUT it is probably nothing compared to yours. Very interesting.
