"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Tonight will be my first treadmill run since like March I think. Couldn't get it done today. I won't run the roads at night. Early mornings are good because traffic is light. In the evenings however, especially near the holidays, traffic is ridiculous. Must be that 'ol Christmas spirit taking hold.

I hope my old $75 treadmill still works.

5 miles /42:17 / 8:27 avg. +.5 mi. @ 9:00 pace barefoot. This was my first TM run in over 8 months.

The few short barefoot runs I've done have been on grass, this was the first on a treadmill.

Treadmill still works.

Good luck with the treadmill. Occasionally I'll see that someone is selling a used treadmill for cheap and I wonder whether I dare buy it.

The biggest risk in buying a used treadmill is not just the money you lose, but how to dispose of the dang thing if it turns out being useless.

From Burt on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 19:11:08 from 12.231.112.98

Just dispose of it through the window of whoever you bought it from like the Discout Tire commercial.

How do your feet feel?

I often think about getting a TM...but it would really make me angry if I spend that money on it and then didn't use it for months on end...So i keep putting it off!

Cool. I would try to do some barefoot treadmill runs, but I think I'd be thrown out of the gym and possibly arrested for biological terrorism/chemical warfare due to my aromatic appendages...

From JD on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 14:36:24 from 70.96.78.157

Burt - I like the way you think. Will they ever stop running that ad?

April - my feet feel great. I think running barefoot strengthens my feet.

Nevels - Do you ever run on a treadmill? It's aromatic appendages like yours that keep me out of public gymnasiums. :-)

From Nevels on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 14:40:42 from 131.204.15.93

generally I avoid them like the plague, but every now and then I'll venture inside to do battle with the endless human conveyor belt (and have a nasty tendency of breaking them or burning the motor out)

I guess I would think taht the TM would hurt feet. I don't like it when I run with shoes! Glad it helps you!
