"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

New shoe's for the marathon, eh? Help me out here. What does GSS stand for?

Wow nice miles for a Monday.

Hope the new shoes were good! After Saturday's 22 miler, I had to go and get the same shoes that I already have 1/2 size bigger. Did some serious damage to a toe on that run. Probably will have no tonails by marathon day, so its a good thing there will be no barefoot running in this marathon. It would be ugly.

Nice run today! Stay cool.

Are you going as nuts as I am? Tapering just isn't healthy for the mind...

From JD on Wed, Sep 16, 2009 at 14:17:04 from 64.65.159.206

Lysa - Thanks.

Metcalf - Thanks. It's my last effort at distance before the marathon.

Auntieem - I've put 280 miles on another pair of the same model. I got this new pair a couple of months ago when I realized how much I like them because I was worried they would be discontinued or something. I've seen people run marathons barefoot! Crazy.

Staying cool.

AdamRW - I'm kind of going nuts. It helps to read this blog and see how others go through the same stuff. I'm anxious to just get to the starting line and get running. Hope it all goes well.
