"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Late, late lunch. Not much time so I decided to try 3 fast miles. Splits: 9:22, 7:17, 7:32, 7:28, 8:44. My time for the 3 was 22:17 with an average of 7:26 per mile. This is 8 secs. per mile faster than my 5k PR. Yipee.

Thanks Kelli. I'm running the TOU full on the 19th, but I'm not running the half. I'll be in Bear Lake this weekend, hopefully running long. Tha't awesome you're running the half (I think), hope the foot behaves! Are you getting that shot on Wednesday?

From JD on Mon, Aug 24, 2009 at 19:28:21 from 209.183.51.46

I wish I were going to be there though so you could pace me in for a fast time!

Oh my heck, am I up in the night or what??? Why did I think you were running the half??? I was positive you were. What an idiot.

No shot. He says if I am going to run the race this weekend to just do it, then get the shot next week and start up my training for St George again. If I rupture the stupid thing, oh well. Either way, I have to take a very long break after St George and get it healed. Until then, I will take my chances. Again, I am an idiot, I know.

I just saw that second comment...it is not too late to sign up!! You will be there anyway, just take a little detour for that long run Saturday.

Kelli - you're not an idiot. I've probably entertained the idea of running TOU half and blogged about it, and/or you may have got me mixed up with one of the 200 or so other bloggers you communicate with! :-)

Great run, JD. You are really getting speedy. Your training is paying off.

That's a nice set of miles in the middle there, JD. Good sign.
