"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

AM - 10 miles. / 9:16 avg.Commute from home to work.  temp in the low fifties, wind NNW ranging from 10 to 20-ish MPH. Easy pace rendered easier by the strong headwind I was running into for the majority of the run. I resisted the temptation to fight the wind and just let the pace fall where it may. My legs feel best since the half last Saturday.

PM - 10.6 miles / 8:40 avg. Commute from work to home. Mostly cloudy, temp in the low 50's. I left from work around 5:00 with a good break in the weather.

My week ending today gives just over 70 miles, including the half marathon on Sat.

Good job using the wind to your benefit.

You gotta love marathon training. If it doesn't kill you.

Carolyn - I'm a strong believer in the idea: that which doesn't kill you ... sometimes just maims you...
