"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

That is exceptional! 40 points one runner. Looks like you are doing well.

that's some crazy, hard working talent!

thanks Adam - i'm doing okay, just trying to roll with the ups and downs where running is concerned. what a great sport!

I would say an accidental PR in the half marathon is more than just rolling with it. It seems to me though that since you have known me from the blog I have been injured...

From JD on Thu, Jun 07, 2012 at 20:53:04 from 65.130.138.137

you weren't injured when i very first started on this blog. in fact, i remember being quite inspired by your race report from the des news 10k (2008?).

From JD on Thu, Jun 07, 2012 at 21:03:48 from 65.130.138.137

...and UVM half last year - 1:16! and running of the leopards this last march - a 5:11 avg. pace! holy smokes, i hope you're feeling healed up soon and can take advantage of that speed.

From Adam RW on Thu, Jun 07, 2012 at 21:07:47 from 155.101.144.2

The right perspective does make all the difference. I was really hoping to hit the UVM half this weekend again and see if I could do something to that 1:16, so I'm bummed about the foot misbehaving. But be thankful for what you have and that "accidental" PR for me in the 5K back in March was a pleasant surprise. Plus I have to remind myself that the running season is really just starting. Hope to see you out there at a race soon. Maybe Des 10K again?

From JD on Thu, Jun 07, 2012 at 21:25:46 from 65.130.138.137

i've never run des 10k...hope to see you there!

From Adam RW on Fri, Jun 08, 2012 at 08:22:38 from 155.101.152.123

Prior to the foot hiccup my summer racing plan was Memorial Day 10K, UVM half, Des 10K, TOU half and then TOU full... We shall see. Have a great weekend!
