"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Do you have a goal time for your 1/2 this weekend?

From JD on Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 13:01:17 from 70.96.78.149

Lysa - thanks!

Tracy - I'd like to PR, so I've got to get in under 1:44:23.

From Tracy on Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 13:05:37 from 209.175.177.37

I should have figured you were going for a pr, but I wasn't sure if you were focusing more on really long races and this one was just for training!

Good luck with the pr. You've got it in the bag!

From JD on Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 13:09:50 from 70.96.78.149

The thing is, is that my PR isn't very fast. I don't race very often. In fact my current PR is from this same half that I'll be running Saturday, which is the only half I ran last year. I'm new to the consistent running thing so I can hopefully expect some PR's over all the distances for awhile. Although, I've got age slowing me down at the same time. It's all relative. Mostly I'm just grateful to be a reasonably fit 47 year old.

It seems to me that you're very fit and don't need to lose any weight. I think that PR is in the bag.

You are going to do well!!! Get that PR (although I will probably miss you at the finish!) I am meeting Scott at the half way mark to trade out his fuel belt for a freshly loaded one. That will probably be at 1:40 or so.....not sure I can make it all the way to the Gateway in less than 4 minutes. I will tell Scott he has to do the half in 1:20 so I can get down there to see you finish.

Good Luck JD ... I will be cheering for you!!!
