Is the stairmaster just for some XT, or are you training for something hilly?

I've been running inside after a running slump and it's hard to return to running in the heat and humidity. But I guess you know something about heat and humidity! I've been using it mostly because the treadmill cuts off after an hour (today I reset it for another mile). I used the StairMaster the other day because it was new and I was curious. I found that it's amazing for glute strengthening and I actually like the machine.
The part of Philadelphia we live in is fairly hilly and I have technical and rocky trails (50 miles worth if you know how to put them together). That will change when I move to Michigan in a few weeks.
I also have an imbalance in my hips that the combination of treadmill running and StairMastering is helping as near as I can tell.

The short answer = XT :-)
