30' up/30' down. Covered just over 6 miles (6.07). About 8-9 seconds faster than last week and kept it below 170 avg HR. Felt pretty good. Legs started to stop firing in the last mile. Left leg does that sometimes. Could have run 5-10 seconds faster on the last mile I think. I feel less wiped out throughout the afternoon than last week.

"I just started to get to the point where I could start to get to the point of getting in shape again." You might be there, bro. This is really good!

Thanks. To put it in perspective, since fall 2013 almost any time throughout the year I have been able to run the 8-mile version of this at the same pace, and have run it as fast as 6:08 average and have run the 10-mile version (the Big Boy version) as fast as 6:13 average. But I think I am officially getting to a solid starting point. Pleased with how things are rolling at this point.

Well, there was that time before Boston I did a half marathon tempo @ 6:30 pace for the second half of a 24-mile run. Pretty sure that this compromised my effort in the race 3 weeks later.

After 10 miles, is it still a tempo? Don't we get into another category at that point?

You know, I just re-read your posts between your linked post and Boston. There's some good stuff in there. My favorite has to be the non-traditional view on tapering.

It's crazy the number of FRB-ers that were at 2014 Boston. I wish I used that opportunity to meet all of them.

For me 10 miles is generally the limit. As I hopefully get faster that number can increase because the overall time will be lower.

Boston 2014 was a great buildup for me. I went from being on the couch in January to a half marathon PR in March and although I blew up in Boston it helped me to build throughout the rest of 2014 for a nice PR that fall.

I wish I had taken the opportunity was well but after the race I was not well. Completely out of it and sick (heat exhaustion).
