Newtone - 8.75 miles in just over 70 minutes. Did 10 minute speed change segments mostly. I'll wait until I at least get into the 8 mph range to continue detailing them :) I got my first rumners' high in, what, 2? 2.5 years? (Thanks for the help Bruno Mars from step class music). I guess other than races, but that is somehow a different sensation.

Your short term running goals are the best short term running goals of anyone

I just purchased my fourth ipod (I kill even the waterproof kind). Had to charge it up, but I think this would be great: BRUNO!

I've had those goals for a while, but a few weeks ago I put em up there with my race schedule to get in the right frame of mind. I think I was in ~76 minute shape for Indy, so getting under that will take a lot of work. I was working down my AT pace fairly well for a while, but I still needed to cut 20 seconds off (which would have been possible over the course of the winter) for the women's OT standard. Hard to say now. However, onward and upward!

Whoops..."BRUNO!" was supposed to link to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvYxZAwc1F8

Runners' high.. I have to wait another year?

You even killed the waterproof one? I didn't know there was such a thing!

People talk about it, maybe I am just a weirdo. Ok. People talk about it. The first time it happened my vision started to go blurry and my arms tingled and I was very happy. That may have been the first time I hit 5k.

There's a sort of post-race buzz where you are tired, but perhaps talkative (when I update Megan on my races) and you feel buzzy and good. Sometimes emotional, but that is different (in May I almost cried at the end of my marathon. I qualified for Boston, I broke 3 hours by a decent margin, and I had run the marathon well for my then-current ability).

I killed the waterproof one to the tune of $149. 2 regular shuffles and 1 waterproof one. For long periods of time I go without, but sometimes the locals get to me enough that I can't take it.

Well, you are a weirdo.. But the runner's high doesn't prove that. ;) One time ~1 year ago I was running on about a 30 degree day. I was cruising by the entrance to the golf course 1.8 miles from my house. I all of a sudden found my pace dropping and dropping with the effort seemingly getting easier. Lasted for a few minutes until I slowed myself down. Kind of a little scary to a new runner. Felt great! :) Nothing quite like it since.

Recently I did quite a bit of online reading about the all mysterious runner's high. Many different theories and opinions about it.

I need to read those, Matt. Sometimes you get into a grove, but this seems more bodily and has a certain, how shall we say it? Onset? I sometimes will speed up when I am feeling good to ~being chase by bear pace but this is something quite different still. Not that it isn't great. (Being chase by bear pace is currently 10MPH and hopefully the bear gives up after ~2 mins :) )
