AM: Forbidden Drive - 9 miles, averaged 7:23.

Plan was to do 5-6 x 1 mile with about a quarter mile recovery, but of course I blew it. Need to scope out another place to do repeats until the leaves fall because the trees mess with the pace too much and it throws me.

5:50, 6:05, 6:04, 6:21, 6:43 (for .54)

Too fast to start but I was right at 5:57-6:00 until I got to a clearing and hit 5:49/5:50. The 4th rep had a slight hill but not that much of one. The 5th rep had a short hill and I pulled it because it was just stupid to grind it out.

Did the mature thing, which was to start swearing loudly. Went and sat in the creek to cool off and walked about 2.5 miles home.

PM: Treadmill - 6.5 miles in a bit over 50 minutes

Sounds like you might need to upgrade from a watch to a measuring wheel?

From Jason D on Wed, Aug 20, 2014 at 11:54:42 from 68.80.27.222

This morning: "I think you should run on the track to make sure the pacing is correct and there are no questions. Naw, you got out of bed too late and it's getting warm and the track will be too sunny."

I keep using the tree cover as an excuse but it does make a difference when it is fully covered. I can tell because when I get to the clearings and I maintain pace, it drops quite a bit.

I have two other watches, but I need to check out a tempo loop I drew out or stick with the track.

Do you have a decent track nearby?

Ah, disregard, just saw your comment. I was about to comment and had to put the phone down for a bit.

I have many options, Joe. It's kind of ridiculous. The one I usually run on is 1.25 miles away and the school is more than welcoming to the community. It's a bit bouncy and I prefer the design of the one's at Purdue, but even with the money at this private school you can't compete with that. They just built a really nice new stadium for it.

Probably tried to force the pace too much, but estimate of LT from Beach to Beacon suggest 6:00-6:05, maybe a touch faster.

I'll stop pissing and moaning one of these days :-)

I'm guilty of looking at stuff like this. Still trying to figure out how I ran this in 7 weeks with 2 months of extremely low mileage and injury:

It's a process, and it will come back around. Forget about some of those older workouts (like you did when you ran that one, and several others like it, in February!).

I'm trying! I just can't figure out how I was in the shape I was. 25-40 degrees is my guess. Onward and upward.

From Matt Schreiber on Wed, Aug 20, 2014 at 20:39:09 from 66.17.102.175

Blown workouts are no fun. Like you said, onward and upward. Fall is just about here!
