I'm going to head in the "no watch" direction this summer for my recovery runs. There would probably be some merit in not wearing one on normal pace days, too, or at least not displaying the pace.

I am running the same routes I've run for a long time. I am not sure why I run with a watch as much as I generally do. I am not running any slower. In fact maybe faster even though I don't display pace on the main screen of my watch unless for workouts.
I used to do one or two a week, but I am really enjoying it lately.
It's a good idea to go watchless or shut off pace completely when it gets very hot because you get very frustrated when you are running 8:45-9:00.
I am pretty sure you can shut the pace off and just run by time. THEN when you upload you can see your distance and pace.
I've even thought of going to the track and doing some on/off 200s. Just running fast for fun and for form!
