It was great to see that Desi Linden won Boston today. I would love to have seen Shalane win, but Desi never gets any credit and she's a fine example of smart running in a marathon.

Most people I followed had pretty rough days, but one guy ran a sensible race and still put up a good performance, running 2:45, when his PR is 2:44. He had an incredible buildup (likely capable of running faster than 2:40). I was once faster than him and he's an example that I can still run fast if I get my self back into things.

a true grit race. times were out the window, but if you ran anything close to your PR, that's an amazing performance.

He ran some long run/workouts of 20-21 miles, approaching that same pace I believe. Always hard to say "could have ran x" or "was in x shape," but by the elite times it showed how tough conditions were.

I was reminded today of Mr. Krong's suggestion that if you want to know how to run Boston (or perhaps it was the marathon in general?) look at how the women approach it. #sotrue

Also kind of reminds me of how pins and needles leading into race day for a marathon is and how much I do not want to (but also want to) gear up for another one (or four).

#weknow ;)

i felt the same way yesterday -- remembering that nerve-wracky, doomy, enthralling feeling. and i was reminded that i'm not too old to try again, even though i keep using that as my excuse..."i raced in my 20s..."

i'm enjoying following your progress, and when i read your workouts i feel like i want to get back to it. it's just a matter of getting past the first few clunkers without losing interest. then, snowball!
