Big Workout: 20.5 miles, averaged 7:08 w/ 10-mile tempo. 5 up, 5.5 down.

Decided to put my big boy undies on and see where I was at. Tired to start, felt okay throughout, and felt strong in the last mile and in the final miles of the cool down, despite losing energy (this was an empty tank run, as usual. Well, I slept ate a Kind Bar at 1:55 AM).

Big boy workout indeed! Nicely done, it's gotta feel great to get that one done and under your belt.

Felt strong in the last mile.. That, I think, is what we're all after. Nice workout Jason. Way to stretch it out and get some miles in.

Feel good. I've managed to run the first two 20+ milers by doing 8.5-10 miles at ~MP. Two slower, longer runs planned (~24 miles), then one final big workout (10 + ~half marathon tempo).

Sounds like a solid plan. Should definitely skyrocket your endurance. I need to stick some tempos in my LR's. Seems to work wonders.

Great workout! Those are some Big, Big Undies!

They are necessary (in Jason's Limited Experience Book of Marathoning Training). Your run the other day was an excellent start (ending around steady state pace, which is between half and full pace).

Don't try to knock out a 10 + 10 without working your way up. This is the third buildup I have done these and I jumped my long runs a bit this buildup. I think as your aerobic tempo workouts (of 10-16 miles of total work) increase these are a natural step up.

Great workout Jason.

I'm partial to the 1 AM bowl of cereal myself.

Nice going Jason, put a beat down on the 2:50 guy!
