PM: 7 miles, averaged 8:39. HR 154.

Ran in my Katoola Nanospikes. They are a really nice product. I still slipped a little in the loose snow, but they are great on ice and do provide a good bit more traction on snow. They really stay put too. I had issues with my Yaktrax folding up on me.

Foot feels fine. I assume the uneven ground with snow, grass, ruts, etc would set it off. It felt great to be outside even if I am having trouble creating safe routes (trying to venture out of the my safe space at the park)

I have microspikes, never heard of nanospikes. Interestingly, I bought them not when I lived in Colorado and Utah, but in South Carolina, in case I needed them for Mt Mitchell Challenge.

They are less aggressive. More like a homemade pair of screw shoes, which work very well but I'm only running in two pairs of shoes at the moment and I'm running on the treadmill a bit.

A guy I had classes with at Purdue is sponsored by them. He uses them in muddy trail conditions in Hawaii and I think he's headed to Costa Rica and said he would use them there. Mike Popejoy is his name. He ran at Notre Dame and qualified for the OT via the half.

Nano spikes are for icy roads. Microspikes for trails.

If I were running somewhere with very muddy trails like Costa Rica or Hawaii, I'd just buy some aggressive Inov 8's and not have the extra gear/weight.
