North Side - 5 easy, then 4 x 240m leg tuners (the more expensive Garmin 610 can only go in .5 increments), averaged about 5:41 on those. Felt pretty relaxed, but it was warm.

Sounds like someone got a new toy - what kind of grad student can afford all these Newtons and Garmins?!

Hey, good luck tomorrow! Looking forward to a 17:xx

I bought it back a while ago (they keep blowing up, I'm on my 3rd), but I guess that doesn't quite answer your question :) The Newtons I buy for $80, never full price. Uh. This STILL doesn't answer your question. In fact I feel guilty going to the grocery store and buying healthy food, so it's mostly debt. After I graduate and become a barefoot runner of necessity you'll know what happened!

Thanks. I've been thinking more and more about 17:xx. I keep second guessing myself, but I am in at least as good a shape as I was in February when I ran 18:06 and this course is flatter (going to be some humidity to contend with though). I'll be running off a Timex, so that first mile will be scary until I get the split!

I was just messin' with you...

But I was serious about the 17!

I know. Hope I didn't sound defensive; I knew you were jabbing me.

I think I will be fine as long as I don't try to beat the shirtless young fellows in front of me. It's a huge race (for the area) almost 800 people last year. Might try to race a bit (tactically that is) for something in the top 5-10

I love the Garmin 610! You can switch to kilometers and get an auto split every 50 meters too.

Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks! I guess I haven't given it enough time to mess with it (I use my 210 for most runs because it is setup so I can't see pace). I do like the vibration alert though because I am forced to run with headphones. It's a beautiful piece though.
