AM: Jefferson High School loop - 6.8 miles, averaged 8:24

Off to buy a foam roller to work out some of the kinks in my legs. I guess it's the weeks of training adding up. Legs aren't trashed, they just don't feel snappy and my hips don't have much jazz or extension to them.

PM: North side wandering - 5.25 miles, averaged 7:59

Loving my foam roller (even though I have to close the shades because some of the moves are a bit odd looking). Didn't realize how tight my IT bands were. Thought it was just my hamstrings, which I seem to have been able to work out.

Foam rollers are great and usually do the trick. Not easy to travel with them though...

Everything's looking good for Nov. 3rd. I'm looking forward to reading the race report with a humongous PR and BQ on it.

Bret: They need some that are like those just add water sponges. I can't believe I've gone without a roller for this long. I used a rolling pin for a while, but those aren't perfect.

Bam: Thank you. I'm going to run with a pace group because I know I'm going to want to go crazy. It makes more sense to relax and stay with them and go a little bit in the last 10k, but probably only when I get on the last long straightway near 23.1-24 depending on how I feel. I ran fairly well in the final miles last year even when I had to stop when a cramp punched me in the hamstring. . .right around mile 25!
