| 7.5 today, it was pretty cold compared to last week. temp around 12 with wc at or just below 0. Starting a cutback week, so instead of moving my long run up to 9 or 10, i dropped it back half a mile and just ran easy. will try to keep my mileage below 30 this week. then time to ramp it back up. | epic blizzard outside today, so i ran 400s on the indoor track. Kept it between 1:17-1:21, total time added up was 5:11, 5:16, 5:20 for each mile, roughly 5:16 avg. took 1:15 recovery between reps. |

| 3 easy miles today right after i rolled outta bed. temp 15, windchill 0. Total time was 22:39, 7:33 avg pace. Kicking off the first race of the 2011 season tomorrow doing a 5k in story city. Ideally I would be under 18 minutes, but anything reasonably fast would constitute a good speed workout and thats super important at this stage in my training. Weather should be a little better also, predicting 25 degrees with wc near 18-20.

| 12th annual rosy cheeks run today, my 1st. Temps at race time were good for this time of year, right around 20 degrees with no wind. The roads were still covered in snow and ice so the footing was rough throughout. Didn't run a great time, but i also havent done much speed work and the footing was bad. I have worked more on tempo pacing which unsurprisingly my average splits today were about right on my tempo pace. So I'll take the positive out of it. only split I got was my first mile in 5:48. Total time was 18:31, 5:58 avg pace. Got a nice little trophy for winning my age group. Once again nothing to write home about, but it's a good gauge of where I'm at and I also didn't feel too bad running. So i think my half marathon pace is pretty solidly engrained in my mind. next week i will run a 5 mile race and my goal is to hit 30:00 exactly. Should be an interesting race. |
