AM:  5.05 miles out Hwy M and back - Avg 7:56.  I don't like running early in the morning, neither does my legs - ughh :(

PM:  10.8  miles @ 7:30 pace with the famous Andrea @ Kettle Moraine.  Thanks for taking the time to run with me Andrea - I know it's not always easy to get away when you're on a work trip.  It was really refreshing to have someone to run with.  I'm really glad you enjoyed the trails!  You are definitely as down to earth in person as you are on the blog!   You also looked nice and strong for just running a tough race this weekend.  I think you have a very bright future in running ahead of you!   Jen and I will have to try and get out to Utah to see you and Jake sometime.  Even if just for a short weekend to hit the slopes this winter J Thanks for making my first day back at school a much better day!

Andrea called me immediately after the run absolutely RAVING about how awesome the trails that you guys ran were.

DEFINITELY come out and ski! We'd love to show you guys around the Wasatch. Nothing but bottomless powder if you know what you're going :-)

Awesome! - I was just checking out your blog and looking at some of the back country skiing you guys did last winter. It looks amazing - super jealous!

kettle moraine must be great for running. I used to hike and x-country ski there when I lived in Madison. I grew up in Madison, we moved there in 1964, my parent still live there. I am thinking of coming back and doing either the madison marathon or the mini in August. this would be my chance to place as I will be 50 then. Are you going to do the marathon? Nice job at the mini by the way.

According to the maps, the trails were 10.8. So average pace was right at 7:30s (I forgot to stop the watch too!).

That was such a great run and great company as well! Check out my blog too.

Wow pretty sweet day and great start to your week

Scott - I ski and mt. bike those trails - lots of fun. I'm so lucky to be centrally located in Fort where I can get to Kettle in 20 min. I'm planning to do a lot more exploring. There are so many trails I haven't seen yet. Plus I have the Ice Age trail that I haven't taken full advantage of. I probably won't do the Madison Marathon because my wife wants to really run Grandma's and I'm probably going to run my 1st Boston. The Madison Mini was a great venue though and I highly recommend it. I'm definitely putting it on my sched. for next year!

if you ski those trails in KM alot there is a good chance you will run into my dad- he is a hard core x-country skier who has skied the birkebeiner in Hayward every year since 1978. he is going on 80 but still skiing strong.

I remember Fort Atkinson well because we always drove right through it on the way to all the concerts I attended at Alpine Valley through high school and beyond. I can't begin to count how many concerts I have been to down there. Fond memories of good old Alpine Valley. Last time I was there was for a CSN concert in 1988 I think!

oh, and good luck getting ready for Boston! I may very well come back and do the mini- in which case i look forward to meeting you, and will try to keep up with you for a mile or two. I'll let you know as we get closer. depends on the kids summer schedule and when school starts as i would tie it in with a trip to visit my parents.

Come out to ski and we'll take you up Mt Superior... you'll either never want to ski w/ me again, or you'll be packing up the house and immediately moving to Utah! :-)

From Burt on Tue, Aug 30, 2011 at 14:11:03 from 206.19.214.144

How cool is that! I hope you got Andrea's autograph.

From Hamdog Alum on Tue, Aug 30, 2011 at 23:17:55 from 68.185.190.140

Dan - Doesn't get any better!

Scott - Sounds good, just to let you know though it's not a super fast course. I'd say it's fair, but the hills are in tough spots. I bet your right about me seeing your Dad. Wow your Dad is a champ!

Jake - You're a hell of an athlete so I'm guessing it will take a few trips to get up to speed to hang with you! I've got a good background in skiing and boarding, but minimal back country. I've taken on the best that Vail, Breck, Keystone, A-Basin, and Big Sky have to offer though!

Burt - I'm hoping when Andrea wins Long Beach she’ll send an autographed photo. She's been overwhelmed with press coverage lately so, I didn’t want to bug her with too many requests :)
