Left leg a bit sore and overall a bit fatigued.  So, I bagged the planned run (9 w/ intervals) and did 6 ez.  Forgot to start my Garmin til mile 2 but the last 4 miles averaged 8:27 at 140 bpm.  About 80 degrees and it felt humid for around here.

Last Monday there was police tape on the ground of the JRP trail at 600 North.  I didn't think anything of it.  On today's run my we figured out it was left over from a body that had been pulled out of the river on Saturday (a week ago). I can't find any info on how the guy died or how his body ended up in the river.  Yikes.

sounds like it was smart to improvise.

It is always a adventure on the JRP. If I remember the news right I think it was a runner that found the body.

And my husband wonders why I won't run on the JRP by myself, yikes!

After such an AWESOME half on Sat., I think you did the right thing to bag the intervals for an ez run. Your ez pace is still FAST in my book!

The JRP in SL sounds adventurous! I like the JRP in Lehi: there's a good hill portion going from Thanksgiving Point up to Redwood Rd by Camp Williams. The south portion is thru farm lands and campground. I feel pretty safe running alone there.

I wish I could find out how the guy died. It could have been anything, deleterious or natural.

On this section I run by parks, schools, golf courses, quaint subdivisions, apartments, and businesses. I've had more than one proposition but never anything or anyone I've felt threatened by, except where the trail crosses roads. I've had drivers scare me on multiple occasions! I feel MUCH safer running on the JRP than running along roads. Cars are deadly weapons and many an otherwise friendly person seems to be transformed into a driving Mr. Hyde!
