am: 3 last week or morning practice!

pm: 11.5 total. ran a workout today of 3x(2x200's; 1x800; 1x300) equal recovery. so this was kind of a beginning of tapering, but most tapering will be next week so we peak at state. first set i hit all the times right on: 33, 33, 2:17, 46. didn't feel very warmed up yet... next set i felt a little better with 33, 33, 2:20, 45. i could have easily nailed my 800 time but i didnt have a watch so i was going off tyson and he was a little off... then i started to feel warmed up and all this energy came and i hit: 32, 33, 2:15, 40.  this last set i felt smooth and solid and the 800 felt good. the last 300 we had it so we went faster every 100. good workout, windy and dry. shins only hurt a little.

pm: workout of 3x(2x200, 1x400) pretty easy looking workout, (tapering has its benifits) but still had its tough parts mainly because we had to hit faster times. double recover.

got to the meet and found i was in heat 8 of 9 (which i like better because the 9th heat raced 6 hours later and i felt like i would do better in the moring) .. warmed up for about 15 min then did some strides and stretching and went to the bull pin. i saw my sister in the stands and that helped my nervousness go away and i began to feel exited. my rank for the heat was 18 of 20 next to jordon cross of ogden, who i knew would get a sub 4:30 so i made a goal to stick with him. but everyone one in the heat had a time from 4:27 to 4:33 so i knew it would be an agressive race but i felt ready.

the gun went off and i got good position the first 100 meters and elbowed my way to about top 10. everyone was crowded tight but i made sure not to get backed up, even though i ran in the 2nd lane the first lap and a half. first split was a 1:02, way to fast. but i still felt very good. i moved my way up to 5th right behind Jordon, just staring down his back (1:09). pretty soon we moved our way right behind the leader who split the wind for us. and the final lap we passed him and surged faster (1:09) at this point i should have stuck on his back the whole way... and i could have, but seeing i was going to get a sub 4:30 i just didnt go. and that cost me. the last 100 meters a group of 6 guys past me, i realized what i was doing and pushed it hard the last 10 meters passing all but one. (1:07)

overall pretty wierd splits but they added up to be a nice time. glad to finally have good mile time, now for region and state i need to get a sub 4:24.

ran the 800 20 min later. had a high from the mile and thought i would own this succer but after i started i realized how tired i was. 1:03, 1:04. for a 2:07. bad race but i could have done better with more time.
