I got put in the slow 1600 heat, ranked 1rst, so I just sorta tempo'd it. Start I got pushed back way badly. Some fool ran a 61 first lap lol. I ran a 4:58, splits weren't great, I lost focus. 71, 72, 77, 78. It's all about tomorrow though, just gotta do today twice. If any of my loyal bloggers see this and have advice give it please, ily

If that race felt decent than yeah, you've just gotta keep the rythm going and dig deep so you don't slow down in those 5th, 6th, and 7th laps especially, good luck!

I would recommend negative splitting, you want to feel strong through the first mile, then you can start picking it up and working at the pace. Don't go out too slow, but don't go out too fast.

@zack I'm really not the best at negative splitting. I can hold on to a pace but I usually only negative split like twice a season. But I have only done it once so far...

for me negative splitting is a mental game, mentally tell yourself you are going slower the first couple laps, then you can mentally tell yourself that you have more than usually because you know that you were going easier on the first part.
