Today, was the Turkey Trot annual race, Conner (didn't race but just ran the warmup), Stockton, and I warmed up in the gym around the track, just 1 easy mile to get warmed up.

The race officials had us meet inside because the weather was so awful.  We all headed outside into the crazy wind and rain and got on the start line.  One kid lined up beside me wearing only a singlet, shorts, and racing flats...crazy.  Anyways, they started the race, and that same kid and I immediately opened a good size gap.  We were neck and neck halfway up the first hill, but I surged partway up and really dropped him.  The 5k course and 10k course are the same for the first 2 miles.  I was able to get to the 5k turnoff first.  Even before any 5kers.  We cut across the road and were now facing the wind, this part was slow, and brutally cold. I widened the gap and from there it was a pretty boring race.  I got to the finish and won by maybe a minute or so in a 37:49.  It wasnt as fast as I hoped, but lots better than last years 40:02.  All in all, it was very cold, lots of fun and I ended up with 2 free turkeys! (1 for winning, 1 from a raffle) Hopefully I'll be back next year!

I went back to the track to do a few more miles later.
