Well, some days you just have a bad race day. I warmed up three miles. My goal was at least a minute faster than last year, with an A goal of sub 1:18. Based on my training that seemed doable. Merilee Blackham was in the race, so I knew I had good competition. I just felt horrible from the start. I was struggling early, and never hit a groove. I got gapped at mile four and found myself stuck in no man's land. I just kind of stayed there. It was difficult to even hit sub six. My legs felt ok. I was just so tired. I ran four after. I didn't feel trashed by any means, but that's all I had, today. Such is the race. I did manage to hold on to second place, do the day wasn't a waste. Factors to today's performance: Really intense week last week. Probably not recovered. I'm still struggling with insomnia. Only 3 hours last night. Got to get this under control. My period. Enough said. Oh well. Onward to Chicago. |
