Short-Term Running Goals:

I would like to run an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon.

I would also like to run on one more international team before I pack it in!

 Stay healthy!  (My biggest challenge!)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run my whole life, and then live vicariously through my children. (just kidding) , but I do want to pass on a healthy lifestyle to them.

Help coach East High to a state championship. (hope it doesn't take a lifetime!)

Personal:

I've been running since I was nine.  I'm married to a fellow runner who inspires and supports me.  We have two children:  Cole (4) and Lily (18 mos.)  I help Bill Cobler coach cross country at East High School.

I'm not loving the on and off knee pain. Every other day running isn't working too well, either. It's getting better, but not quickly enough. I did a harder effort today. 65 minute tempo, starting at 6:45 pace, and finishing at six. I can tell I have lost some fitness, but I think Ican snap back fairly quickly.

I think I will run the SL half more as a tempo run, next week. As of now, I think Grandma's is off. I just don't want to cram the training into ten wees, and then run a sub par marathon. I guess I could go and run it by effort, just for the experience. I don't know. As you can see, I'm not very mentally invested.

Anyone want to go to Chicago in October?

I kind of disagree about Grandma's being out of the question for you Emily. Sometimes the break is good mentally and physically and you could really surprise yourself. 10 weeks isn't long but it might actually be the perfect amount of time without peaking too early? I'm clearly no expert but something to think about.

Also there is plenty of time between Grandmas and Chicago so why not take a risk and see what happens. Just throwing a different idea into the equation.
