| Just an easy ten mile ride on my mountain bike with Ben. Funny how after all these weeks of riding my road bike, suddenly I feel unsafe riding the mountain bike! :D |

| Britnee and I ran an easy 5 mile loop this morning. Both of us are tapering for races this weekend, so we purposely held it back and took walk breaks. We finished in 51:10. Afterwards, we did bootcamp. |

| Today I did resistance work at bootcamp. Then I went home and slept as much as possible. I need to get caught up on my ZZZs after so many weeks of sleep deprivation.... |

I taught yoga for bootcamp this morning...it was nice to get a good stretch in. Afterwards, Kim, Katie and I did a nice, easy 18.2 miles on the bike.
This afternoon, I went to the track for speedwork, but I overheated pretty fast, so I ended up only doing 3 miles with more slow jogs than actualy speed. I ended up finishing in 26:51. Then I met up with Ben, and we went to the pool for a few laps of swimming. I feel nice and loose for the triathlon on Saturday. :D |

| At bootcamp I took one of my clients out to run a mile on the track. She did it in 12:43, then i did a short sprint...just because I wanted to! :D That's all for me today. I'm resting up for my tri! And I will probably sleep a bit more today as well. Yay! |

Clearly, I need serious help with my transistions.... :D
It was a great race. I had planned to just relax and enjoy myself, calling this another "training" run, but you know how the race energy gets into you and you can't help but push....well, I probably just need to start pushing more on my training runs! I felt pretty good about the swim, except that I turned in towards the dock one buoy too early, so I had to backtrack a little on the swim. My first transition was terrible. I couldn't get my wetsuit off, my bike shorts on, my socks and shoes on, or my food in my pockets. My sunglasses wouldn't go onto my face! I even had to go back once to pick up things I had dropped. So it was slow going in transition. Then on the bike, the course was marked poorly - actually, it was marked WRONG - and I ended up doing an extra loop up a very nice, steep hill, which didn't help my time. Still, I felt pretty good about the bike. Another campout in the transition area trying to get my gloves off and my helmet unstrapped, and then I was off on the run. By then, I was beginning to feel a bit head-achy from the heat. They were completely out of water at the first aid station, which didn't help, but I drank some sticky gatorade, and kept running. I decided at this point that I wasn't going to run full-out at the expense of heat exhaustion, so every time I began to feel the head throbbing, I took a short walk. There was a LOT of walking! When I got back to the first aid station, they were out of everything, including gatorade, so I had to be careful climbing the last hill into the finish area. I finished the race in 3:06:12...plenty of room for improvement, but okay for a first triathlon. I really enjoyed myself, and am looking forward to doing another! |
