Nice run Emily!

I just looked at your mileage over the last couple months, but more specifically over the last 6 weeks or so since you have ramped it up. I think 60-65, then 45-50, then about 25 in the 6 days leading up to the race is perfect. On a percentage basis, its pretty much the same thing that Andrea and I are doing. I maxed out w/ about 6 weeks @ 140 miles, then cut back to 110 last week, just under 80 this week, and I'll run about 40 in the 6 days leading up to Philly. Andrea was hitting 75-85 mile weeks during her highest volume periods, then dropped to 67 last week and 55 this week. Since you have peaked at 70+ miles, I would think that as long as you are feeling strong, another 65 mile week is fine.

What do you have planned for your last couple workouts?

Cool--thanks Jake. I'm not totally sure what I should do for this week and next. Last year, I raced a half marathon instead of the long run this last weekend, so I'm not sure how to do this week differently. Maybe 4x 1 mile at 5:40-5:45 Tues, 10 mile marathon pace on Thurs. and then Saturday 15 miles with 7-10 of it marathon pace... how does that sound?

I think the keys at this point are:

1) Stay sharp

2) Get in some marathon-paced running

3) Do workouts you are good and build confidence

I think the mile reps are good for accomplishing the first objective. Make sure the Thur/Sat combo isn't too much. 17-20 miles @ MP is quite a bit. If it were me, I'd keep the 10 mile tempo, then then for the Saturday run, just run 4-5 faster miles at the end of it.
