Ran 2:57 marathon in college 20 years ago.

Most all of my PRs are from when I was 29 and 30.

Half Marathon PR 1:17:16 (my best race ever 53rd place Indy Mini 1999)

10 Mile PR 57:22

15K PR 53:24

10K PR 34:29

5K PR 16:32

Short-Term Running Goals:

Start running again and run 1:30 for a half marathon this fall.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours for the marathon

Sub 17 5K, Sub 36 10K.

Personal:

I am married and have two wonderful kids, 14 and 10.  I've been running since 1982.  I never get "basic" injuries.  I always get the real nasty career threatening kind, like stress fracture of the sacrum, ganglion cyst clamping  down on my peroneal nerve.

Ran an easy 8 miles this morning w/ Tom Dever, Tim Monaghan, Brandon Query and Ethan (Paige?) in 1:01:13.  Had 32:30 half way.  The last mile, we did 200m pickups w/ 200m jogs.  Back of left knee tight earlier this morning.  Still not bothering me when I run, but something is aggravating the popliteus muscle.  Yesterday's mile down hill in that race probably contributed.  Gotta figure out how to nurse the popliteus...

Ran/jogged/walked an easy 2 miles with the Otter Creek 6th grade boys this afternoon.  Much cooler than the previous couple of days.

Got up and ran cut-down mile repeats on the track with Tom, Tim, Tim, Vaughn and Josh at 5:30 this morning.  Each repeat intended to be half marathon pace, shave off seconds after each one with a one minute recovery.  Ran 1.5 mile warmup, then ran repeats on WW MS track in 6:11,5:55,5:56 (oops), 5:50,5:48.  First time I've ever done that workout.  Ran 4 mile cooldown afterward.  Temp nice and cool 71.

 

This evening ran 5x600m w/ Austin's CC team to pace the 6:00 pace group (2:07,2:11,2:12,2:12,2:06) w/ 1/4 mile warmup on the track.

Ran a pretty good 10 miles with Jeff and Josh and Scott Keeny in 1:10:19 from ISU out to St. Mary's and back.  Temp nice and cool 64 and cloudy, a little breezy.  Legs are sore from yesterday.

This morning, ran the Fast Track Mile for the first time in 10 years.  First time in 10 years that I didn't have to work!  Ran the mile in 5:19.  Goal was to go 5:30.  Took a 4 mile warmup to get to feeling good.  Light rain and humid all during warmup and race.  Ran 2 mile cooldown.  Really want to go 8-10 miles tomorrow, but the back of my left knee is really bothering me now.  It is really exactly the same warning signs that I had when I had popliteal tendinitis in my right knee 9 years ago, which ultimately led to removal of a ganglion cyst.  Took me 13 months before I could run a step.  Hopefully this is just something I can nurse...  Going to start putting the Octane back into the routine.
