Steve called me last night and invited me out to the track this morning for some speedwork.  Of course, that sounded like a great idea last night, but I didn't have the same excitement this morning getting up at 5:30.  Anyway, I did mangage to make it over to the PVHS track and met up with Steve and Dave.  We did a 2.7 mile warm-up over to the middle school, then got started on doing some 400s with 200 meter recovery in between.  It has been quite awhile since I've done 400s and a few weeks since I've done any speed on the track.  I wanted to try to run everything under 1:20 and try to do at least 12.  I'm happy to say I met both goals, and really didn't feel too bad.

3-1:17

4-1:19

5-1:20

6-1:16

I took a break here for about 5 minutes, I probably could have kept going, but I think my times would have really fallen off, so I just took the approach of breaking the workout into two different segments.  I was able to run the second set a little faster and felt satisfied with my workout in the end.

8-1:17

9-1:17

10-1:17

11-1:18

12-1:16

13-1:20

When I finished I paced Dave for 200 meters on each of his last two 400s.  Felt ok on the cool-down and glad I got out of bed and met up with some of the guys.  I enjoyed the morning track workout and look forward to doing more throughout the summer.
