Easy 4 this morning.  Tonight, I headed up the La Verkin Twist, then turned off on the trail that goes past the green water tank, once on top of the lookout, I took a new trail to the south for a ways.  The climb up the hill wasn't too bad, legs a little sore and it has been taking me a while to feel like I'm in any kind of rhythm, usually after about two miles I start to feel a little better, but the first few miles of my runs lately have been a struggle.  After I turned around and was coming down the twist on the road, I still was going at a pretty easy pace. Overall pace for the 9 miles was 7:40, the first 4.5 there was quite a bit of uphill. I finished the run about dark and I was glad I had waited a little later to go out, still fairly warm. Dustin, Do you know a good run we could do after the race?

From Dave Holt on Thu, Apr 05, 2007 at 09:35:28

I've got a great run out that way for after. But I don't know if I can do it. Family Easter commitments. Dustin probably knows it. The Canal Trail that starts up by the towers heading on top of the cliff heading out toward Colorado City. Beautiful run, fun trail, a bit uphill on the way out.

It always makes me nervous when someone gives a suggestion on a run then says....um, I don't think I'll be able to make it, sorry but good luck guys.

Thanks, Everything went great. Baby and Mom are good. I've got three little girls now!! I'm going to try and get out and do a run after work today.

Here's how to get there. Head up the hill like you are headed to Colorado City. Just before the road takes the big right hand turn, there is a pulloff that overlooks Hurricane. This is the trailhead. The trail runs along the highway for 1/2 mile or so then cuts UP into the hills. I haven't ran it since I taught over there, but used to run it quite a bit. I really liked it, even though it was tough. I am going to try and do all I can to get over there and run - even if we decide to do a different run. But anyway... it seems like when I went all the way up the trail to the top trailhead (which is up on the plateu nearish Virgin) and back the run was right around 11 miles.
