Beautiful evening for a workout in Southern Utah, temperature 82 degrees, which is a big relief from the 100+ we've had most of the summer. I knew I wanted to do some type of speed workout, but I wasn't certain exactly what, but I just headed out the door and knew I would have 2.5 miles to warm-up running over to Hurricane High School. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to do some Yasso 800s, so I figured 6 would give me a pretty good workout, with the goal of each one being as close to 2:40 as possible, with a 400m recovery between each.

1-2:39 (1:17, 1:21) felt great, but a little worried this might have been too fast, especially if I was wanting to do 6

2-2:36 (1:16, 1:19) another really good repeat

3-2:35 (1:15, 1:19) Put on the song "Kick Start My Heart" lately I've been listening to some older heavy metal on my hard workouts. After this repeat I'm thinking maybe I should just be done with this workout, since I'm feeling pretty good.

4-2:37 (1:18, 1:18) Ran this one even pace, however the effort didn't feel even, felt like I started too slow, and had to really work to get this one under 2:40

5-2:36 (1:16, 1:19) Had to put the ipod on "Dr. Feel Good", which pumped me up some.

6-2:34 (1:16, 1:18) Once again I put on "Kick Start My Heart" and I'm able to run a fast repeat and finish for me what was a very good workout.

This workout was exactly what I needed to boost my confidence a little with the marathon soon approaching. These times were a lot better and more consistent than anything I did at this time last year, so that is good.

For a Monday I felt pretty light in relation to my weight.

I did this same workout exactly a year ago to the day and went 2:43, 2:42, 2:44, 2:43, 2:46, 2:47. So I'm pretty pleased with the improved times this year.

Good workout. Way to start the week off so good. It's Monday and I'm already feeling trashed. Boo!

I think we are staying with my wife's uncle and aunt in SunBrook for the whole weekend. However, I have always wanted to stay up in Pine Valley the night before, so I appreciate the invite. Damon Cox's parents had a cabin up there a few years ago and we had always talked about staying in it, but never did. My only thing is that I will have my Dad with me, so if there is space for him too than I might take you up on your offer. I would stay with our relatives on the other nights, and my wife and son would stay with them every night. Let me know what is going on, and we can talk about our plans and make a dicision. It does sound fun!

Nice workout!
